Paper Flower Deskoration DIY

I've taken my love for big, handmade paper flowers and brought it into the office with this adorable mini canvas piece that can either be propped up on a mini easel or hung up in an office cubicle space on a few thumb tacks! This is a pretty simple project as long as you have the patience for working with small bits of paper and a glue gun! This project is also shown being made with a Cricut, but it's entirely possible to make it without one as well, just using a pair of scissors!

Enjoy!!

What You Will Need

-Glue Gun

-Glue Gun Glue

-Cardstock (any colour)

-Pencil or Pen

-Inexpensive Canvas

-Cricut & Cutting Mat

Step 1 - Choose Your Flowers & Colour

There are plenty of paper flower templates available for free online, especially on Pinterest, and there are lots available for purchase on the Cricut design space itself. In this piece I've used a combination of 3 different flowers, an Orchid, a Peony, and a Gardenia. (Click each word for the corresponding PDF file.) Go crazy with your colours too, even include leaves if you want to! I chose to go with all white since I love the way the paper picks up the shadows in the light and matches with everything! It almost looks like porcelain!

Step 2 - Cricut Time

Upload your flower files to the Cricut Design Space and cut out the desired amount of flowers for your size of canvas. Be sure to cut varying sizes of each different flower in order to create visual interest and balance within your piece! There is no right way to do this, just use your eye. For mine, I stuck with 5 bigger flowers surrounded by a variety of medium sized to small flowers to fill up the space around them.

Step 3 - Shaping Your Flowers

After you have everything cut out and organized whether by Cricut or by hand, take your pencil or pen and begin to curl the edges of your flowers petals in order to give them a 3D look so they will pop up on the canvas once glued down.

Step 4 - Glue

Once all your petals are curled and each of your flowers is organized into a little pile, begin to assemble the flowers. Every pattern is different, but one of the easiest ways to learn about assembly is using YouTube or Pinterest. After your flowers are glued and dried, go back in and adjust the petals, curling them up more or moving the pieces around until you get your desired look.

Step 5 - Assemble

Once all your flowers are ready to go, simply arrange them on your canvas and glue them down! I recommend arranging them on the canvas first and then lifting them back up to glue them. This way you won't leave any empty spots behind!
