Free & Easy Beauty Self-Care Inspiration

Self care in all its form is extremely important for your well-being. You will not only thank yourself for creating weekly or daily rituals that help you take care of yourself in a variety of different ways, but so will those around you. After all, you can't pour from an empty cup. Listed below are a few simple things that you can do for your beauty routine both daily and weekly in order to keep your self refreshed and healthy. Personally, I try to incorporate all of these thing's into my day to day life and feel much better knowing that I've spent some time taking care of myself!

Clean Your Makeup Brushes

It seems simple, but it's something that many of us forget to do more often than not. Not only will keeping your make up brushes clean help you to apply your makeup flawlessly, but it will also get rid of harmful bacteria and buildup that can lead to eye infections and acne. Also, makeup brushes can be extremely expensive, so it's important to clean them at least once a week so they can live long and happy lives! Personally, all I do clean my brushes is wash them in warm water and scrub them with my facial cleanser before putting them back into their open air container to dry.

Hair Masks

Weekly hair masks are a really great way to lengthen your time between haircuts and keep your hair moisturized and manageable. You can find really great premade mask packets at the drug store for only a few dollars, or you can make your own with items form the kitchen! One of my favorites is a moisturizing Honey and Coconut Oil Hairmask, but keep in mind that a mask like this does take awhile to wash out since it is so sticky!

Moisturize

Not just your face, but your entire body! Ideally it's great to moisturize both morning and night, but once a day after your shower works great too! Your skin will thank you by being easier to work with when applying makeup and looking great!

Exfoliate Your Body

Ever notice dry skin on your clothes after taking them off? Exfoliate! You can buy great body products at the drug store for a cheap price, but I prefer making my own! All you need for a basic mixture is olive oil and brown sugar. This recipe is great since it only takes a minute to make and does an excellent job at taking away dead skin, clearing pores, and making your skin baby smooth! You'll feel super soft and refreshed after this scrub! Just make sure you clean your shower afterward since the olive oil can make things very slippery for whoever is in there next!

Lots of Water

This is obviously pretty self explanatory, but it will definitely make you a much happy, energetic and healthy person!

Keep The Showers Cool

Every notice that after a long, scalding hot shower to relax your skin feels dry and irritated? That's because it is! Hot showers are not good for either your skin or hair since hot water strips away your skin’s natural defense against dryness and irritants, and can worsen skin conditions like acne, eczema, dandruff, and psoriasis. Cool water also helps to close your hair cuticles, keeping your locks soft and smooth, locking moisture in. You wouldn't wash your face with scalding hot water, so why the rest of your body?

Take Care of Your Toes

Even though you've just spent at least half and hour in the shower after all of the previous tips, it's important not to forget your feet. Take time at least once a week especially in the summer to rub your feet after a shower with a pumice stone to remove dead skin and prevent painful cracking. After, moisturize your feet with a heavy cream meant to penetrate through the thick skin of the feet and put some socks on while it soaks in!

Take Your Staple Beauty Product With You

Take a trip to your local drugstore and buy some little travel bottles, or better yet sample sizes of your favourite products for your beauty routine and stache them in your purse or car. This way you will never be in crisis if a dry spot shows up, or you are in desperate need of dry shampoo!
